3 Simple Hacks to Start Your Day Off Right
There's two types of people in the mornings; there's the blaring cruise ship alarm that yanks you out of bed or the soothing chimes that has you hitting snooze till the last possible minute. Whichever one you are, how much smoother would your day go if you were able to start off your morning with a positive take? In order to increase your productivity level throughout the day, a morning routine is essential to lowering stress levels and giving your body the self-care it deserves.
First and foremost, charge your phone in the outlet across the room from your bed. Whether it be your blaring ship alarm or violently calm chimes, this hack will force you to get out of bed and walk over to shut it off manually rather than snoozing it 6 times. Getting up and moving around is a great step toward completing your daily tasks and achieving those checkboxes next to your personal goals. The extra work it took you to get yourself out of bed to walk over to your alarm may just be the extra push you needed to get yourself ready for the day ahead of you.
This next hack may possibly be my key to success each day. Making your bed was most likely the biggest nag from your parents'- little did we know that small task can change your whole perspective on the day. Something as quick and easy as pulling over the covers and adjusting your pillows is oddly soothing and prepares you for your day of bigger tasks. Instead of jumping out of bed at the last second only to run to class or work and be faced with a large task right off the bat, making your bed is a little task that leaves you feeling accomplished and ready to the day by the horns.
Lastly, this third one really makes a difference in your mental state for the day. Devoting some time for yourself is arguably just as important as brushing your teeth. In order to prevent burning yourself out by the afternoon, balancing a self-care routine is essential. A mental routine like this looks different for everyone but starting off your day with eating a good breakfast, getting some Starbucks, reading a devotional, or even journaling, are all good ways to give your brain the chance to rest and enjoy the moment you rewarded yourself with. What is your favorite way to relax and reward yourself for the hard work you accomplished?
